Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS) was founded by Sri Sri Paramahansa Yoganandain 1917. The mission of YSS is to make available to all the ancient scientific teachings, and meditation techniques of Kriya Yoga for achieving all-round success, well-being, and a direct personal experience of God. YSS has more than 200 centers across India to help all Truth-seekers to experience the power of group meditations and to share in spiritual fellowship. The closing years of the last century and the dawn of new millennium witnessed a great YSS start-up in the new township of Gurugram (formerly Gurgaon). A few inspired devotees of Guruji got together around 1999 - 2000 and started Sunday satsanga out of their homes.
Over time, two devotees started holding Sunday satsanga regularly on alternate weeks' - and in due course of time, with Guru ji’s blessings another devotee joined in, holding satsanga on the fifth Sundays of the month. Time rolled on, attendance kept growing and with ever-increasing Guruji's divine grace and intervention seeds of setting up a Dhyana Mandir at Gurugram had started germinating.
During the next 2/3 years, some senior devotees commenced mapping up plans to build the temple on a grand scale. Consequently - indeed guided by the divine hands of Guruji - Govt. of Haryana and HUDA authorities allotted a piece of prime land measuring over 1100 sq yds in Sector 40 (bought by an inspired devotee) to build YSS Dhyana Mandir in Gurugram.
Getting the above piece of land was relatively easier than actual funding, getting the team to execute plans and starting construction of the mandir! That is when Guru ji's presence was felt and a strong cohesive core team emerged which toiled hard through the next 20 / 22 months. Finally on 18 November 2006, coinciding with the former Sanghamata Daya Mataji's 75 years in YSS/SRF, Bhoomi Pujan was performed through the able hands of Swami Nityanandaji, with great devotion and excitement at the site of the building. The project which went through many ups and downs withstood all difficulties and road blocks through Guruji’s blessings. By the end of 2008, the Dhyana Mandir was ready and on 04 January 2009, the mandir was inaugurated in the august presence of Swami Shantanandaji & Swami Nityanandaji with Shri V N Khare retired Chief Justice of India as the Chief Guest.

"Group meditation is a castle that protects the new spiritual aspirants as well as the veteran meditators. Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism."
